Canada's Philippe Marquis "fired up" for Sochi Games

Canadian skier Philippe Marquis says that he is ready to show his talent at the Sochi Games.

Canadian moguls skier Philippe Marquis has said that he is "fired up" for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The 24-year-old had initially failed to make the team, but was called up after half-pipe skier Megan Gunning suffered a knee injury during practice at the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo.

"I didn't expect anyone to get injured and I felt really sad for Megan," CBC quotes him as saying. "Sport is what it is and when I got the confirmation I knew I had a great opportunity lying in front of me."

"This whole story has been a roller coaster of emotion. From disappointment to pride, I've seen it all. But it just keeps getting better!"

"I will be fired up for these Games. I feel I'm in my prime and I've been getting ready for the past four years."

Canada has won four medals at the Sochi Games so far.
