Zoe Smith withdraws from World Championships

British weightlifter Zoe Smith pulls out of the World Championships with a virus.

Great Britain's Zoe Smith has pulled out of the ongoing Weightlifting World Championships in Kazakhstan.

The 20-year-old, who won -58kg gold at this summer's Commonwealth Games, has been unable to recover from a virus.

"This is a great shame for everyone concerned and especially Zoe. Zoe was looking forward to continuing her excellent form which included gold at the recent Commonwealth Games," read a statement from British Weightlifting.

As well as claiming the top prize in Glasgow, Smith also won a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
