UFC star Conor McGregor offered route into WWE by Triple H

UFC star Conor McGregor 'has got what it takes' to succeed in WWE, according wrestling legend Triple H.

WWE's executive vice president of talent has revealed that he would be open to welcoming UFC star Conor McGregor into the world of sports entertainment should he be interested in making the switch.

The 28-year-old made history at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday evening, as he defeated lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in two rounds to claim hold of a second belt.

Wrestling chief Paul Michael Levesque, better known by his stage name of Triple H, was ringside to watch McGregor up close at the weekend, and says that the Irishman has what it takes to succeed in WWE.

"He could come over, he's got it all, man - he's got the personality, the skills, the talk. He's an entertainer, for sure," the wrestling legend told The Telegraph.

"What does he walk around at? 180lbs? I have smaller guys now in the WWE. We have 200lb guys who are stars. You don't need to be 300lbs any more."

McGregor claimed prior to Saturday's high-profile fight with Alvarez that he had a big announcement to make, but Levesque insists that he has yet to discuss a switch with the featherweight and lightweight champion.

"If his announcement has anything to do with WWE, then it's news to me," he added. "But yeah, he could do just as well as Floyd Mayweather when he fought the Big Show. That really worked. Conor could do it for sure."

McGregor recently admitted to being unhappy with his level of pay in UFC, but also added that he would like to stay out of the celebrity spotlight.
