Petra Kvitova has booked a place in the third round of the US Open with a straight-sets win over Alize Cornet.
It was Cornet who recorded the first break of the match to make it 4-3 in the first set, but the world number five broke back immediately.
Kvitova then raised her game, holding for 5-4 before breaking her opponent for a second time to clinch the set 6-4.
The Czech looked unstoppable in the second, securing an early break for 2-0 and again to make it 4-2, eventually clinching the set 6-3.
Kvitova faces Pauline Parmentier of France in the next round.
