Organisers confirm that the men's US Open final will be played on a Monday for the fifth consecutive year.

For the fifth consecutive year the men's US Open final will be played on a Monday.

The match had originally been scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon.

However, a tornado warning in the New York area forced today's semi-final between David Ferrer and Novak Djokovic to be suspended.

Organisers have since confirmed that the match will continue at 4pm tomorrow afternoon.

That news means that world number four Andy Murray has an extra day to prepare for the final at Flushing Meadows.

Murray booked his shot at his first ever Grand Slam title thanks to a four-set win over Tomas Berdych earlier today.
