Simona Halep has secured a place in the third round of the Miami Open with a 6-4 2-6 6-1 victory over Nicole Vaidisova.
Both players lost serve in their opening games of the first set, but it was Halep who struck again later down the line to give herself the edge and take the lead.
Halep crumbled in the second set by losing serve four times, and Vaidisova's movement on the court rewarded her with a set.
After Halep's wobble in the second, last year's French Open finalist found her rhythm again by going a break up at the first time of asking.
The Romanian whizzed through the deciding set and despite dropping serve, was able to seal victory.
