Feliciano Lopez edges past Bernard Tomic in Paris

Feliciano Lopez beats Bernard Tomic in three sets to book his place in the second round of the Paris Masters.

Feliciano Lopez has reached the second round of the Paris Masters thanks to a tough three-set victory over Bernard Tomic.

The Spanish world number 29 broke early in what was a routine opening set before holding serve to close it out 6-4.

Lopez missed the chance to serve out the match at 5-4 in the second, allowing qualifier Tomic to force a tie-break which he won 7-4.

There was little to separate the two players in the decider, but it was Lopez who came through the tie-break 7-1 to advance.

He will now face seventh seed Stanislas Wawrinka for a place in the third round of the tournament.
