Viktor Troicki doping violation ban reduced

Serbian tennis player Viktor Troicki sees his 18-month ban for a doping violation reduced to one year by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Serbian tennis player Viktor Troicki has seen his 18-month ban for a doping violation reduced to one year by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The 27-year-old was suspended by the International Tennis Federation in July after failing to provide a blood sample at the Monte Carlo Masters three months earlier.

Troicki's claim that he was too unwell to give blood at the time was rejected by the ITF.

However, the former world number 12's original punishment has now been cut by six months following an appeal.

Troicki will be allowed to return to the court at the end of July 2014.
