The Lawn Tennis Association have announced the appointment of former head of Tennis Canada Michael Downey as their new chief executive.
Downey will take on the role from January 6, 2014, replacing Roger Draper, who will leave his position with the LTA at the end of this month following over seven years with the organisation.
"This is a huge privilege for me, at a fantastic time for British tennis," said Downey. "We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us, and it is an honour to be able to lead the work of the LTA in getting more people playing tennis."
LTA Chairman David Gregson added: "We set out to recruit a CEO with true success in business, with exceptional leadership credentials and ideally with significant knowledge of tennis. Michael demonstrably fits the bill perfectly and was the unanimous choice of our recruitment panel."
Downey has held the position as president and chief executive of Tennis Canada over the last nine years.
