The Australian Open champion came through 6-1 7-6 against Ferrer, who had knocked out Rafael Nadal yesterday.
Wawrinka started in excellent form, mixing up his shots well and never letting Ferrer get into a rhythm as the Swiss cruised through the opening set in just 32 minutes.
The second set almost started the same way as Ferrer battled hard to hold his serve in the opening game, before relaxing and finding some of the form which saw him overcome Nadal yesterday.
He forced Wawrinka all the way to 6-6, but couldn't claw back the Swiss's 5-2 lead in the tie-break.
Wawrinka will face the winner of the other semi-final between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.
