Cameron Norrie sees his defence of his Indian Wells Masters crown come to an end in the quarter-finals as Carlos Alcaraz storms to a 6-4 6-3 victory.

Indian Wells Masters champion Cameron Norrie saw his defence of his ATP 1000 crown come to an end as Carlos Alcaraz progressed to the semi-finals in straight sets.

Nearly seven months on from going down to the Spanish teenager in the US Open, Norrie sought revenge on Alcaraz and got off on the right foot - leading by a break on two occasions in the first set.

However, 18-year-old Alcaraz came storming back and took six of his eight opportunities to break the Norrie serve and advance courtesy of a 6-4 6-3 victory.

Defending champion Norrie could only post a measly 27% win rate on his second serve and also had to take a time out due to a hip issue, as Alcaraz set up an all-Spanish semi-final with Rafael Nadal.

Nadal made it to the last four after defeating Nick Kyrgios in a typically fiery display from the Australian, while Andrey Rublev, Grigor Dimitrov, Taylor Fritz and Miomir Kecmanovic are all vying for spots in the semi-finals later on Friday.
