Gilles Simon has booked his spot in the third round of the French Open courtesy of an impressive 6-7 6-1 6-1 6-1 win over Pablo Cuevas.
It was the Frenchman that took control of the first set in the early stages, breaking Cuevas's serve to move into a 2-0 lead. However, a break back from the Uruguayan kept the set on serve until a tie-break.
It was Cuevas that moved into a 3-0 lead, before claiming three of the next four points to move 6-1 ahead, eventually taking a one-set lead courtesy of a 7-2 score.
Simon responded in style, however, securing three consecutive breaks in the second set to level the scores at 1-1. Just the two breaks arrived in the third, but it was enough to secure another 6-1 set for the Frenchman.
Cuevas tired as the fourth set developed, with Simon breaking four times to book his spot in the next round of the competition.
