Li Na dumped out of French Open

Second seed Li Na is beaten in the first round of the French Open by world number 103 Kristina Mladenovic.

Second seed Li Na has seen her French Open campaign come to an early end with a three-set defeat to France's Kristina Mladenovic in the first round.

The loss marks the first time that 2011 champion Li has failed to get past the opening round at Roland Garros.

Li, who won the tournament in Paris three years ago, lost the opening set 7-5 before fighting back to claim the second 6-3.

However, world number 103 Mladenovic was emphatic in the decider as two breaks saw her close out the match 7-5 6-3 6-1 against the two-time Grand Slam champion.

Li joins fellow Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka as a first-round casualty in Paris following the Swiss's surprise defeat to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez on Monday.
