Andy Murray praises "extremely aggressive" Andrey Golubev

Great Britain's Andy Murray says that Andrey Golubev played "extremely aggressive" tennis during their first-round match at the French Open.

Andy Murray has described Andrey Golubev as a "tough player" and "extremely aggressive" following his four-set victory over the Kazakh player in the first round of the French Open this afternoon.

The Wimbledon champion, who missed the Roland Garros event with a back injury in 2013, beat the world number 53 6-1 6-4 3-6 6-3 earlier today.

The Scot told Sky Sports News: "He's a tough player. He's extremely aggressive, he puts you on the back foot very early.

"I tried to be patient. It was quite windy, especially at the start. I didn't go for my shots too much and finally got the win.

"Last year was tough for me, I didn't get to play much [on clay]. It was very tough watching Roland Garros on TV. I've tried to improve my movement, get a little bit more top spin on my shots."

Murray will face Australia's Marinko Matosevic in the second round later this week.
