Live Commentary: French Open - Day three as it happened

Sports Mole brings you live updates of the third day at the French Open.

Good morning and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of day three of the 2012 French Open at Roland Garros.

Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer both secured their spot in round two on Monday, but British hopeful Laura Robson was eliminated in the opening round.

Women's world number one Victoria Azarenka also overcame a tricky match with Alberta Brianti to advance to the second round.

Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal will both open up their tournaments today, along with home favourite Richard Gasquet.

20.16: Another match point for Peng and this time there's no messing. Paszek challenges the decision but the umpire rules that the ball did clip the line, meaning Peng progresses to play unseeded Spaniard Lourdes Dominguez Lino.

20.11: Paszek saves a match point before going on to hold, now 3-5 down in the second. Peng will serve for a place in the second round.

20.07: Evening all, what a game of tennis that was eh? Still out on court is 28th seed in the women's draw Shuai Peng, who's moments away from victory though on Court 2 against Tamira Paszek. Currently 6-4 5-2 and deuce.

19.07: Right then, back to the main event we go, where Razzano has made the perfect start to the final. She has held to love and leads Williams 1-0.

18.59: Shock and delight all around as another unforced error from Williams gives Razzano the second set. Tie break score 7-5. Final set coming up.

18.57: SET POINT RAZZANO! Williams bosses the rally but then slashes a foot wide down the line.

18.56: Another unforced error gives Razzano a fourth consecutive point. 5-5!

18.55: You know I said this was over... it might not be! Williams goes long and the crowd go wild. 5-4 on serve in the breaker.

18.53: Embarrassment for Williams. She goes hard for the serve and volley but Razzano's return whistles past her and bounces just in. The American challenges and is loudly booed by the home crowd. The ball was good. 5-3.

18.51: Scary scenes on Philippe Chatrier as Williams unleashes a furious roar of angry celebration. She leads 5-1 in the tie-break. This is over.

18.48: Williams finds the line with a cracking cross-court backhand. She then grinds her opponent down in the next point and Razzano hits into the net. 3-0 Williams with a double break.

18.45: Williams is made to work to for it but she claims the first point on her own serve. 1-0 in the breaker.

18.45: Williams cannot believe this. She must have thought it was over but Razzano digs in and comes up with a priceless hold. The second set will be settled by a tie-break.

18.43: After a seemingly confident start the the game, Razzano produces back-to-back double faults and Williams leads 15-30.

18.42: Tamira Paszek and 28th seed Shuai Peng are underway on Court 2.

18.40: Faultless service game from Williams. She takes it to love to edge ahead at 6-5 in the second. Razzano will have to serve to force a tie-break.

18.38: Elsewhere, Baghdatis has taken a two-sets-to-love lead against Chela. Youzhny has done the same against Blake.

18.36: To the surprise and delight of the Parisian crowd, Razzano responds with three perfect first serves and we are level again at 5-5!

18.34: Classic Williams. She dominates a superb baseline exchange before picking her moment and coming to the net to finish the point with a first-class volley. She is two points away at 15-30.

18.32: Back in the main event, Williams authoritatively holds to 15 and Razzano will serve to stay in the match.

18.30: Former world number one Caroline Wozniacki has made a quick start against Eleni Daniilidou on Court 1. The Dane is a break up and leads 3-0.

18.27: Razzano holds! Williams drives consecutive forehand returns long and stares at her racquet in sheer disgust. 4-4.

18.23: Huge return by Williams sets up break point. This would surely seal it.

18.22: Razzano is under huge pressure to hold her serve and it seems to be showing as she puts a tame forehand into the net. 40-40 on the French player's serve.

18.17: Meanwhile, back on Philippe Chatrier, Williams holds to 30 for a 4-3 second-set lead but Razzano is kicking herself after putting a simple volley wide at 30-30.

18.15: James Blake is in trouble on Court 6. The American has just been broken by Mikhail Youzhny, who now leads 6-2 2-0.

18.13: Razzano forces Williams to cover a lot of ground and the American produces some incredible returns but the French player keeps her composure and holds serve. 3-3 in the second.

18.11: Williams comes right inside the baseline and attacks Razzano's second serve. The return blasts into the net though. 30-15 to Razzano.

18.07: Williams lets out and ultra-aggresive grunt after she bullies her way to advantage.

18.05: We are switching to Philippe Chatrier now. Fifth seed Serena William survived an early first-set scare against Virginie Razzano before powering through 6-4. We join the second, which is poised at 2-2 and deuce on Williams's serve.
