Marion Bartoli has advanced safely to the second round of the French Open with a 6-3 6-3 triumph over Kristyna Pliskova.
The eighth seed appeared to be en route for a routine victory when she took the first set in fairly comfortable fashion.
However, it did not prove to be a simple passage into round two for the Frenchwoman as Pliskova surprisingly broke to take a 3-2 lead in the second.
The Czech seemed to run out of steam though as Bartoli reeled off four games in a row to secure a straight sets win at Roland Garros.
Bartoli reached the semi-finals of last year's tournament before being knocked out by compatriot Francesca Schiavone.
