Kyle Edmund has admitted that he was "very pleased" to drop just seven games on the way to an emphatic win over Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic in the Davis Cup on Friday night.
The 21-year-old came through a rain-interrupted contest with a 6-3 6-4 6-0 win over the former world number eight to give Great Britain a 1-0 lead in the last-eight tie in Belgrade.
Edmund told BBC Sport: "To get us off to a good start was great. Each set I really found my game. I was very pleased with my win.
"We played three games before it rained and I wanted to get the intensity high from the first game back after the break.
"I just tried to relax during the rain intervals. When you go back in it's almost a lull. I had some food and had a shower. It's not hard to switch on and off."
On Saturday, James Ward plays Dusan Lajovic in the second singles rubber before the doubles fixture takes place later in the afternoon.
