Mikhail Youzhny made light work of an error-prone Jan-Lennard Struff to move into round two of the 2014 Australian Open on Monday.
The 2008 quarter-finalist, who is seeded 14th in this year's event, came through 6-1 6-4 6-2 in 109 minutes.
Youzhny broke Struff seven times as the German produced eight double faults and found the court with just 49% of his first serves.
Struff also came up with 61 unforced errors, 31 more than Youzhny, who was far from at his best.
Next up for Youzhny is a clash with either Florian Mayer or Denis Kudla.
