Fourth seed David Ferrer has beaten 2006 runner-up Marcos Baghdatis in straight sets to progress to the last 16 of the Australian Open.
Both players traded single breaks of serve early on before Ferrer broke again to secure the opening set inside 43 minutes.
Ferrer was ruthless on the Baghdatis serve in set two, winning 13 of 25 receiving points and breaking twice.
The Spaniard continued his dominance early in the third, as he broke to 15 for a 2-0 lead.
Baghdatis broke to love in the following game, but Ferrer immediately restored his advantage by breaking to 30.
The remainder of the set went with serve and Ferrer secured a 6-4 6-2 6-3 victory on his first match point with a hawk-eye-overruled ace.
