Kei Nishikori reaches the fourth round of the Australian Open with a straightforward victory over Evgeny Donskoy.

Kei Nishikori has secured his passage into the fourth round of the Australian Open courtesy of a comprehensive 6(3)-7 2-6 3-6 victory over Evgeny Donskoy.

It was a very competitive opening set, keenly contested by both players and without a break of serve.

Nishikori prevailed on the tie breaker 7-3 to take a first-set lead.

It took just 32 minutes for the Japanese player to double his lead as he cruised to a 6-2 victory in the second set.

The Russian quickly fell 3-0 behind in the third set, but managed to get back on serve at 3-3 as Nishikori thought that the match was won.

However, the 16th seed strung together three games in a row to book a clash with either David Ferrer or Marcos Baghdatis.
