The three-time finalist will take on the 29-year-old for the first time in his career on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
Top seed Rafael Nadal will begin his campaign against one of the home favourites Bernard Tomic, while wildcard entrant James Duckworth has been handed a tough test against Roger Federer.
Last year's winner Novak Djokovic will be the hot favourite to progress when he takes on Slovakian Lukas Lacko, who is ranked 81st in the world, while third seed David Ferrer will play Alejandro Gonzalez of Colombia.
Meanwhile, world number five Juan Martin Del Potro will lock horns with a qualifier for a place in round two.
The Australian Open takes place between January 13 and 26.
