Andy Murray announces his withdrawal from the Queen's Club Championships after suffering an abdominal injury in the Stuttgart Open final.

Andy Murray has been forced to withdraw from the Queen's Club Championships due to the abdominal injury he picked up in the Stuttgart Open.

The 35-year-old impressively defeated Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipas en route to the final before going down to Matteo Berrettini in three sets in the showpiece event.

Murray required on-court treatment on more than one occasion over the weekend, but he is hopeful that the issue will not render him unavailable for Wimbledon after a scan.

"After having a scan this afternoon, an abdominal injury means I won't be fit to compete at Queen's this year," the three-time Grand Slam winner explained.

"The tournament means a lot to me, and it's disappointing not to compete, especially after playing some good matches on the grass already."

Murray - who also reached the semi-finals of the Surbiton Trophy earlier in the grass court season - may be fit to return for an exhibition event at the Hurlingham Club next week.

This year's Wimbledon will begin on June 27, and Murray's scheduled first-round opponent at Queen's - Lorenzo Sonego - will instead face lucky loser Denis Kudla.
