United States swimmer Victoria Arlen will discover today whether she will be allowed to compete at the London Paralympic Games after she was deemed ineligible for her classification.
The 17-year-old, who was regarded as ParalympicGB's Ellie Simmonds's biggest threat of the Games after snatching both of the Brit's S6 100 metres and 400m freestyle world records, could be left out of the Games by the IPC after evidence was found condemning her place.
An IPC spokesperson told The Telegraph last night: "She was reclassified on Monday and found non-eligible. She did not meet the eligibility criteria for her chosen sport. She must be reclassified tomorrow morning."
The American teen made a return to swimming last year after she suffered a neurological virus known as transverse myelitis in 2006, which damaged her spinal cord.
