Ukraine swimmer Andrii Khloptsov has confessed that he "expected to win" the gold medal in the men's 50m butterfly at the European Games.
The 16-year-old won the event in 23.92s to clinch the gold ahead of Poland's Pawel Sendyk and the Russian Federation's Danii Pakhomov.
When asked how he prepared to achieve his victory, Khloptsov told reporters: "Training but not just training your body but training your mind.
"I expected a medal and I expected to win. All I am doing here is eating, training and sleeping."
Ukraine have won six gold medals in Baku.
