British swimmer Ben Proud has started his World Swimming Championships campaign by progressing through to the semi-finals in the men's 50m butterfly event.
The 20-year-old, who won gold medals in the 50m fly and freestyle at the Commonwealth Games last year, finished second in his heat in Kazan, which gave him the 11th fastest time overall.
France's Florent Manaudou finished with the fastest time of the morning, posting a time of 23.15 seconds, just ahead of Laszlo Cseh of Hungary.
100m and 200m fly world record holder Chad le Clos was eighth.
