Team GB's Siobhan-Marie O'Connor storms through to 200m individual medley final

Great Britain's Siobhan-Marie O'Connor is through to the women's 200m individual medley final but teammate Hannah Miley misses out.

Great Britain's Siobhan-Marie O'Connor has reached the final of the women's 200m individual medley after an excellent performance in Monday's semi-final.

The 20-year-old is considered to be one of Team GB's best medal hopes in the pool and she only increased expectations after a dominant display to win her race by 1.34 seconds.

Gold-medal favourite Katinka Hosszu registered a slower time in the second semi-final but the race came just 75 minutes after she had won the women's 100m backstroke final.

However, there was disappointment for fellow British swimmer Hannah Miley who could only finish in seventh position in the first semi-final.
