James Guy content with display in men's 200m freestyle final

Great Britain's James Guy says that he was content with his performance in the men's 200m freestyle final despite missing out on a medal.

Great Britain's James Guy has suggested that he is satisfied to have earned fourth place in a competitive men's 200m freestyle final at the Olympic Games.

Guy was drawn in the outside lane and competed valiantly against winner Sun Yang and London 2012 gold medallist Chad le Clos but he was eventually edged out of the medal positions.

The 20-year-old told BBC Sport: "I tried to control it a bit but unluckily I came fourth.

"I knew if I had a chance of coming back fast I would but I just missed out. Everyone stepped up their own game.

"This meet hasn't been perfect but I am 20 and if you said I would make finals I would have taken it. I think I have done OK."

Guy missed out on third place to American Conor Dwyer by 0.26 seconds.
