Great Britain's James Guy beats favourites to grab 200m freestyle world gold

Great Britain's James Guy upsets the odds to win gold in the 200m freestyle final at the World Championships in Kazan.

Great Britain's James Guy has upset the odds by storming to gold in the 200m freestyle final at the World Championships in Kazan, Russia.

The 19-year-old has claimed his second medal of the meet after clinching silver in the 400m freestyle final on Sunday.

The Brit sat in third behind South Africa's Chad le Clos and the USA's Ryan Lochte after the first turn, but he paced himself well to edge into contention for gold in the final 50m.

Despite a strong push from Lochte and China's Sun Yang, it was Guy who managed to touch the wall first in 1:45.14 and take the top spot on the podium.

Yang nabbed silver and Germany's Paul Biedermann clinched bronze.
