Great Britain's Liam Tancock has claimed that he has been written off many times in his swimming career due to his age.
The 30-year-old will contest for a medal in the 100m backstroke final after finishing second in the semi-final at the World Championships in Kazan today.
"People say you get too old sometimes, but you just get smarter, I'm learning the sport," Tancock told BBC Sport. "A lot of people said I couldn't do it, but concentrate on what you need to do and not on anyone else's races - that's what I did tonight."
Tancock's teammate Chris Walker-Hebborn has also earned a spot in tomorrow's final.
