Russian Federation synchronised swimmer Mariia Nemchinova has revealed that teamwork was key to their gold medal triumph at the European Games in Baku.
Nemchinova and her teammates recorded a score of 90.2333 in the free combination to finish ahead of Spain and Ukraine to seal top spot in the competition and the gold medal.
She told reporters: "We have been together for three months and we will celebrate all together too. The first thing we will do is spend two hours in the shower getting all this gel out of our hair.
"We have to wash it two or three times and it hurts trying to get out. It's the worst thing about synchro."
When asked if the team were going on holiday to celebrate their success, she added: "We are happy to do that. We are all great friends and we don't get tired of each other. All of us on the team want to relax together."
The gold medal was one of 12 that Russia have won at the Games.
