Michael Phelps clocks fastest 200m butterfly time since comeback

Michael Phelps clocks his fastest time in the 200m butterfly since making his comeback last year.

American swimmer Michael Phelps has clocked his fastest time in the 200m butterfly since announcing his comeback in April last year.

The 29-year-old, who is the most decorated Olympian of all time with 22 medals, hit the wall in 1:57.62 at the Pro Swim Series meet in Santa Clara, California at the weekend.

"I would have like to have finished a little better but we have been doing things in workout that I haven't done a long time in butterfly," Reuters quotes Phelps as saying. "Having that confidence back helped me."

Phelps's effort was three seconds slower than the fastest time of the year, which was posted by Japan's Daiya Seto.
