British swimmer Ross Murdoch believes that a podium finish at the World Championships would be ideal preparation ahead of next year's Olympic Games.
Only a world-record swim from Adam Peaty denied Murdoch in the 100m breaststroke at last week's British Championships, and the Scot is optimistic that he can feature in a medal position in Kazan this summer.
The 21-year-old BBC Scotland: "I'll be aiming high. I always do.
"It would a pretty good feat to achieve the year before the Olympics and I'll be doing everything I can to get on that podium."
Last summer, Murdoch won gold in the 200m discipline at the Commonwealth Games as well as picking up silver in both races at the European Championships.
