Adam Peaty wins 200m breaststroke gold at British Swimming Championships

Adam Peaty edges out Andrew Willis and Ross Murdoch to win the 200m breaststroke at the British Swimming Championships in London.

Adam Peaty has won gold in the 200m breaststroke at the British Swimming Championships in London.

Peaty, who won Commonwealth and European gold in the 100m in 2014, paced himself throughout before powering home to edge out Andrew Willis and Ross Murdoch.

The 20-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "All those golds from last year mean nothing now because you have to start again.

"I stayed relaxed throughout the race and then turned it on at the end and the adrenaline carried me through."

Peaty's victory also secured his place at the World Championships in Kazan in the summer.
