Team USA swimmer Ryan Lochte has revealed that he bet teammate Michael Phelps $1,000 (£647) that he would come out of retirement.
Phelps, who is the most successful Olympian of all time with 22 medals, left the sport after competing at London 2012, but announced his return in April last year.
During an interview with NBC-6, Lochte said: "When he first said he retired after 2012, I went to him the next day and said 'I bet you $1,000 that you're going to be back', and he was like 'no, no, I won't, I'm done, I'm done.' So he owes me $1,000."
Lochte, who has won four Olympic golds, is expected to be vying for medals with Phelps at the Rio Olympics next summer.
