Commonwealth gold medallist Adam Peaty has claimed that he cannot afford to get complacent in his event due to the fierce competitiveness among the British swimmers.
The 19-year-old took the top spot on the podium in tonight's 100m breaststroke final at Tollcross in Glasgow, beating his fellow Brit Ross Murdoch, who finished in third.
As well as Peaty, Team England's Andrew Willis and Scotsmen Murdoch and Michael Jamieson have all shown their breaststroke ability in the pool.
"You can never put your feet up, especially when you've got Ross, Michael Jamieson, Willis in the 200m as well," Peaty told reporters.
"You just can't put your feet up and I think that's a good thing - it keeps you on your toes. It's just nice to be up there with those guys competing. I'm having fun at the same time, so I couldn't ask for anything better."
Peaty's winning time of 58.94 seconds is a new Commonwealth Games record.
