Team England swimmer Adam Peaty has admitted that he is still struggling to digest his three-medal haul at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 19-year-old won gold in the 100m breaststroke and men's 4x100m medley relay, and also took home silver from a tight 50m breaststroke final at Tollcross.
Peaty has confessed that these achievements comfortably surpassed his pre-Games expectations.
"It was an amazing relay, I just tried to stay calm and treat my leg like an individual," he told the Burton Mail. "You don't want to get over-excited for that kind of occasion because you can with the crowd.
"The first 50m I went off nice and steady and then went hard on the way back. We believed we could do it and we saw it through to the end.
"If you had said at the start of the season that I would come away from the Commonwealth Games with two golds and a silver I would have said no way. The training has paid off and it has just been so great to be a part of such a successful team."
Peaty will compete at the European Championships in Berlin next month.
