The Iranian narrowly missed out on an automatic place at the Crucible through his world ranking, but he will still compete in Sheffield courtesy of a 10-6 win over Jackson Page.

Three-time quarter-finalist Ryan Day also made it through to the last 32 courtesy of opponent Scott Donaldson having to withdraw from their match on medical grounds.

Joe Perry is another high-profile name to qualify courtesy of a 10-9 win over Mark Davis, but two-time runner-up Matthew Stevens missed out having lost 10-7 to David Gilbert.

Elliot Slessor will make his second appearance at the tournament after beating Zhou Yuelong by a 10-6 scoreline, while Jimmy Robertson posted a dominant 10-2 win over Andy Hamilton.

There were also triumphs for David Grace and Pang Junxu, who defeated Andrew Higginson and Si Xu by 10-5 scorelines.

On Tuesday, Matthew Selt, Fan Zhengyi, Si Jiahui, Jak Jones, Anthony McGill, Noppon Saengkham, Ricky Walden and Yize Wu made it through to the main stages.
