Rasul Mammadov has expressed his disappointment at failing to qualify for the men's 50m pistol final after finishing 24th out of 31 in the qualifying rounds at the Baku Shooting Centre.
The 31-year-old Azerbaijani athlete also failed to advance in the men's 10m air pistol event, where he finished 32nd in the qualifying round.
"I cannot blame anyone or anything, but sometimes it is not going as you want and wish. I ended up 24th out of 31, which is really bad. I was not expecting that kind of result in this event, since I have done much better in previous competitions," Mammadov told reporters.
"The good thing is that it was a kind of preparation for upcoming events and another single sheet in my professional experience book."
The men's 50m pistol final was won by Serbia's Damir Mikec, with Slovakia's Pavol Kopp taking silver and Turkey's Abdullah Omer Alimoglu picking up the bronze medal.
