Alsim Chernoskulov clinches -90kg sambo gold for Russia

Russia's Alsim Chernoskulov beats Andre Kazusionak in the men's -90kg sambo final to claim gold at the European Games.

Alsim Chernoskulov has secured more success for Russia at the European Games by triumphing in the men's sambo -90kg to claim gold in Baku.

In a clash which finished with Chernoskulov claiming a 2-0 win over Andrei Kazusionak of Belarus, both competitors were given warnings by the officials early on.

However, it was the Russian who held his nerve to clinch the victory after earlier beating Azerbaijan's Kanan Gasimov 4-0 in his semi-final test.

Home favourite Gasimov missed out on a medal following a 3-1 defeat to Georgia's Davit Karbelashvili in their bronze medal clash, while Radvilas Matukas of Lithuania also claimed bronze with a 2-1 win against Armenian hopeful Ashot Danielyan.
