Sir Ben Ainslie backs Giles Scott to win Olympic gold in Rio

Four-time Olympic champion Sir Ben Ainslie is confident that Giles Scott can win gold for Great Britain in next summer's Olympic Games in Rio.

Four-time Olympic champion Sir Ben Ainslie has given his backing to Giles Scott to win gold in next year's Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Scott was one of eight sailors selected by Great Britain last week to compete in Brazil.

Ainslie, who is the most successful sailor in Olympic history, believes that Scott can dominate the Finn class.

"Giles trained with me for the Beijing and the London Olympics, and was a very sharp contender in his own right for London," Team GB's website quotes Ainslie as saying.

"He's an incredible talent. He's got everything he needs to win the gold medal next year; he's hugely talented and he's got a very level head on his shoulders. We're backing him all the way."

Scott has won two world titles in his career and has not suffered defeat in a regatta in two years.
