Stephen Park keen to secure Olympics qualification

British Sailing manager Stephen Park reveals that he wants to use the upcoming World Championships to secure as many places at the next Olympics as possible.

British Sailing manager Stephen Park has admitted that he wants to claim half of Team GB's places at the next Olympics during the upcoming World Championships.

The event, which is taking place in Northern Spain, begins on Thursday and lasts until September 21, and Park is hopeful of being able to focus attentions on the individual disciplines after the conclusion of the competition.

Park is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We'd hope to qualify in each of the 10 events at this first opportunity and put that to bed.

"Then we can concentrate on the individual competitions and who we select for Team GB."

Team GB's sailors performed superbly at a recent Olympic test event in Rio, winning eight medals in seven disciplines.
