WRU dismisses reports linking Wales coach Warren Gatland with England switch

WRU chairman Gareth Davies insists that Warren Gatland is "staying with us until 2019" amid rumours linking the Wales coach with a move to England.

The Welsh Rugby Union has insisted that Warren Gatland is going nowhere amid speculation linking the coach with a move to England.

The Rugby Football Union is searching for a new England coach after the departure of Stuart Lancaster, and Gatland is thought to be one of the contenders.

Gatland has said that he could leave his role at the end of his contract following the 2019 World Cup, and the WRU expects the New Zealander to at least fulfil his deal.

"Warren is happy in Wales and as far as I am concerned he isn't going anywhere," WRU chairman Gareth Davies told Wales Online. "He is staying with us until 2019."

Former South Africa coach Jake White is the current favourite to succeed Lancaster in charge of England.
