George North fit to face South Africa

George North is fit to play for Wales against South Africa after overcoming a virus.

Wales back George North has been passed fit to face South Africa.

The 22-year-old, who was struck down by a virus leaving him unable to train for most of the week, will now feature in the first Test in Durban on Saturday.

"George trained this morning and he came through it very well," Wales assistant coach Rob Howley is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "Our medical team have been taking care of him, he has been hydrated and he has had some fuel on board.

"I am delighted to say he is raring to go even though obviously it has been a difficult and different week for him. Having not trained for a couple of days he is feeling a little rough, but he has still got time."

North made his Wales debut against the Springboks in the Autumn Tests of 2010.
