Wales lock Alun Wyn Jones has admitted his delight at being handed a call-up to the British and Irish Lions squad for the summer tour of Australia.

The 27-year-old was a part of the South Africa tour in 2009, but it had been suggested that he would miss out this time around due to a shoulder injury.

However, the Ospreys lock was selected in Warren Gatland's 37-man squad for the summer tour.

"The thing that shocked me last time is that things are quite quiet initially, but once you get closer to the games there seems to be fans everywhere," he told Sky Sports News.

"You see things like Englishmen singing 'Delilah' and that makes you realise it is a bit different. You are representing four nations, not one. There is a lot of pressure but you have to make sure it does not get to you. It is a very special experience."

The Lions get the tour underway on June 1.
