Bath head coach Mike Ford rejects speculation linking the club with a move for veteran South Africa lock Victor Matfield.

Bath head coach Mike Ford has rubbished speculation linking the club with veteran South Africa lock Victor Matfield.

Reports in France recently claimed that the 38-year-old would be joining the Aviva Premiership side after the Rugby World Cup.

"No, we're definitely not looking at Victor Matfield," Ford told the Bath Chronicle.

"We're looking at recruitment in all positions all the time, but I don't know where that story has come from."

Matfield has earned 122 Test caps for South Africa and was part of their triumphant squad at the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
