Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane admits that he is pleased with his side's tough display following their victory at Hull in Super League.

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has revealed that he is pleased with his side's tough display following their 28-20 win at Hull in Super League.

Pat Richards, who announced before the match that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, kicked over 12 of the Warriors' points at the KC Stadium on Friday to move them three points clear at the top of the table.

"I expected that," Wane told Sky Sports News. "Hull are a good team who were never going to go away. That was the sort of game we needed, we needed a tough game and we got one.

"The players knew they were up against it, the conditions made it slower and I am happy with the win. We weren't at our best but ended up grinding out the win."

Wigan return to action next Friday when they welcome struggling Salford City Reds to the DW Stadium.
