The mixed coxed four crew - Grace Clough, Daniel Brown, Pamela Relph, James Fox and cox James Oliver - successfully defended their title from London 2012 with a time of 3:17.17, almost two-and-a-half seconds faster than the USA.

Lauren Rowles and Laurence Whiteley produced a powerful display in the mixed double sculls event, leading from start to finish to claim gold with a finishing time more than three seconds ahead of their rivals.

Rachel Morris, gold medallist in handcycling at the Beijing Games, took top honours in the arms and shoulders single sculls event thanks to a barnstorming finish. China's Lili Wang led for most of the race but Morris seized the lead with a few strokes remaining, finishing with a new PB of 5:13.69.

Meanwhile, 32-year-old Tom Aggar claimed bronze in the men's version of the same event, eight years after he topped the podium in Beijing.

ParalympicsGB lead the way after the first day of medalling at Lagoa, with Ukraine in second.
