Katherine Grainger has admitted that becoming Olympic champion has changed her expectations in the sport after recently returning from a two-year absence.
After winning gold at London 2012, Grainger opted to take a break from rowing, but after making the decision to try to qualify for the 2016 Games, the four-time medallist has revealed that she wouldn't be satisfied with anything other than first place.
The 39-year-old told BBC Sport: "I didn't come back to finish second. I've had years of that.
"I was over the moon with Sydney, the second one I was still happy, but the third one was clearly quite devastating. I'm done with that.
"Silver isn't good enough for me. When you have won the Olympics, you have different expectations that you have to live up to every day."
Grainger will partner Vicky Thornley in the double sculls at the European Rowing Championships this weekend.
