Two women hope for Grand National glory

Katie Walsh and Nina Carberry look to become the first women to ride to Grand National glory in this afternoon's famous race at Aintree.

The world's most famous steeplechase could have a female winner for the first time as two female jockeys line up in today's Grand National at Aintree.

As well as competing with each other, both women, who are amateur Irish riders, will also be racing against their older brothers in this afternoon's race, which goes off at 4.15pm.

Katie Walsh takes the mount of Seabass (16-1) while brother Ruby opted to ride On His Own (14-1).

In the Carberry family, Nina is on Organisedconfusion (25-1) while brother Paul is hoping for victory on Chicago Grey (14-1).

The early favourite for the race is Tony McCoy's choice, Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Synchronised (7-1).
