International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach has said that he is not intending to use a short, snappy phrase to describe the Sochi Winter Olympics at the closing ceremony.
Over the years, the organisation has maintained a tradition of using a short slogan to summarise Games upon their conclusions.
Former IOC president Jacques Rogge, who was replaced by Bach in September, called the 2012 Olympics in London "happy and glorious Games", while Juan Antonio Samaranch's last Games in Sydney were described by him as the "best".
"This evening I will not use the one adjective," Bach told reporters. "If I don't, change my mind.
"What I want is not to give my judgement. I want to convey the messages I heard from the athletes, National Olympic Committees, international federations, sponsors and broadcasters. This will be the purpose of the speech tonight.
"My English is not good enough to have that one adjective."
The Sochi Winter Olympics closing ceremony will take place at 4:14pm GMT today at the Fisht Olympic Stadium.
